12^th SYROS SUMMER WORKSHOP

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

The Syros Summer Workshop on Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Studies is now a 25-year-old tradition. It is organised by the Hellenic Association of Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy under the auspices of EFPP and takes place in the Cycladic Island of Syros. It combines Greek island summer weather with psychoanalytic studies.

From the first Workshop (held on May 1998) EFPP and IPA members from all over Europe have been joining this event in this sunny and picturesque Greek island of Syros. Successful workshops of the past enjoyed the presentations of invited speakers like Margot Waddell, Biddy Youell, Gianna Williams, Prof. R.D. Hinshelwood, Ricky and Louise Emanuel, Ann Horne & Monica Lanyado (U.K.), Jean Begoin, Regine Prat & Klio Bournova (France), Roberto Basile (Italy), Luc Moyson (Belgium), Serge Frisch (Luxembourg), Olympia Sklidi, Athanasios Alexandridis & Sophia Hassilidi (Greece), Andre Gautier, Thomas and Elisabeth von Salis (Switzerland), Majlis Winberg Salomonsson, Imre Szecsody & Anders Jacobsson (Sweden).

The high quality theoretical and clinical presentations in the plenary meetings are discussed in small Anglophone and Francophone groups characterised by a friendly atmosphere, which encourages the exchange of ideas. The same friendly atmosphere accompanies us to the seaside and the local tavernas after each day’s work and is perhaps one of the reasons that most of the Syros Summer Workshop participants keep coming back for the next event.

The theme of the 12th Syros Summer Workshop is Contemporary culture and its relation to psychic organisations: Countertransference in view of ‘new’ normalities and pathologies, with invited speakers: Alexandra de Rementeria (U.K.), Maria Papadima (U.K.), and Nicolas Evzonas (France) and discussants: Olympia Sklidi (Greece), Cristina Călărășanu (Romania), Grigoris Maniadakis (Greece).

Boat ticket rates vary from 72,50 to 87,50 Euros per way. Plane ticket rates are shaped dynamically, according to the availability of seats.

Reservations
As June is already a peak tourist month for Syros, early reservations are of utmost importance. Hotel reservations can be made by completing the ONLINE BOOKING FORM (it opens in a new browser window, requires javascript to be enabled). As only a small number of rooms is available, participants are kindly requested to contact Easy Travel before submitting the booking form, to ensure that their preferred hotel has vacancy.

Payments
Required at the time of booking: Cost of one night at the hotel
By May 15th: Payment of balance

Payment can be made in one of the following ways:

For payment by money transfer, please note that:
- All bank charges - including those of the Greek banks - must be paid by the registrant and not by the beneficiary.
- A copy of the bank's document clearly stating the name and address of the sender must be sent to the Workshop Secretariat.

2. By credit card
Payment by credit card can be made using the ONLINE BOOKING FORM (opens in a new browser tab, javascript must be enabled).

Cancellation and refunds policy
Cacncellations must be made in writing to the Workshop Secretariat. Refunds will be made according to the date of notification. For cancellations up to 16/5/23, payments for hotels are refundable, minus 20 Euros for administrative expenses. For cancellations after that date, no refunds will be made. Bank charges will be deducted at source.

Exclusive tourist programs

Easy Travel will be glad to provide information on request in connection with any travel arrangement required or any exclusive tourist program to the islands or the mainland to participants who wish to extend their stay and see something more of the country thus combining their trip to Syros with their summer 2023 vacationing.
